about me
After obtaining Bachelor in Law, I ventured into the tech and fintech world where I spent 7 years working in operational roles with product and tech teams.
Looking for a change, I fell down the blockchain rabbit hole and since the very beginning I was mainly focused on DAOs, decentralized autonomous organizations.
I worked with a variety of Web3 projects in different capacities, ranging from governance, business, product and legal.
In addition to my consultancy and advisory work, I am a guest lecturer and educator in online schools, universities, and a number of webinars and workshops.

DAO Design & Strategy
Aleksa Mil
I began my journey in Web3 as a voluntary contributor in DAOs, speciliazing in governance, operations, and legal.
Through hands-on experience, I've transitioned into a consultant and advisor for various Web3 projects. I've had the opportunity to support initiatives spanning GameFi NFT projects, decentralized exchanges (DEX), social impact DAOs, real estate ventures, and more, offering support in governance, operations, legal compliance, business strategy, and product development.
Additionally, I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience by teaching and mentoring on Web3 and DAOs.

Governance Showcase: DAO 1
Aleksa Mil
About:
The DAO aims to create a better world grounded in verifiable truth, focusing on human dignity and environmental care by advancing social and environmental justice through contributions to profitable social ventures.
Community
Challenge:
Community members and contributors lacked clarity regarding their roles and responsibilities within the project. This resulted in confusion surrounding processes and procedures, and a lack of alignment among members regarding their individual contributions and collective efforts.
After conducting several interviews with the DAO team and understanding their collective goals, challenges, and objectives, I developed a governance framework to address their needs and establish an initial governance structure. The framework I provided focused on addressing their main requirements:
• Clarification of members' and contributors' roles within the DAO and for their individual projects.
• The governance process for voting: proposal structure, voting process, voting types, and quorum.
• Implementation of an incentive mechanism.
Additionally, I assisted them in selecting an appropriate tool to track contributions, projects, tasks, and other relevant activities.

Governance Showcase: DAO 2
Aleksa Mil
About:
The DAO's mission is to onboard one billion people to Web3 by providing them with easy-to-understand educational materials and offering a platform for them to initiate and build their own projects.
Community
Challenge:
The DAO Unit was initially established with the goal of providing the DAO with legal guidance and educational materials. However, as the DAO rapidly grew and initial members left, the Unit continued operating without any specific mission or purpose. The contributors weren't aligned about their roles and responsibilities, and there wasn't any substantial work produced to justify the funding received from the DAO.
I designed a comprehensive governance framework for the DAO Unit, which included establishing a Code of Conduct for all unit members and contributors. Given the specialized nature of the unit's work, it was necessary to come up with clear guidelines and criteria for specific roles, outlining the minimum qualifications for candidates. This was particularly important as the Unit provided legal guidance which required having lawyers leading the Unit's efforts.
Moreover, in addition to defining role criteria, each position was assigned KPIs and a minimum work perdormed per season. This was designed with the goal to differentiate actively engaged paid contributors from those who did not produced relevant work yet still received compensation.
Furthermore, I developed a Minimum Viable Governance (MVG) model to establish voting process of the Unit.

Governance Policies
I've written more than 30 DAO policies, each tailored to meet general and specific DAO and community needs.
Additionally, I've reviewed and contributed to a number of whitepapers and litepapers.

Legal Work: GameFi DAO
Background
The project involved developing a platform that offered in-game incentives, with a particular consideration for implementing a betting incentive system.
Challenge
• Identifying a jurisdiction that matched the DAO's legal and operational requirements.
• Assessing the product roadmap to align with regulatory standards and identifying the need for additional licensing.
Aleksa Mil
Scope of Work
• Identifying the most suitable jurisdiction for incorporation.
• Evaluating compliance requirements and assessing the need for additional licenses.
Outcome
• Successful incorporation of two entities, the DAO entity and a service provider entity to achieve high level of compliance and protection of the founders.
• Advised on minor adjustments made to the product roadmap to eliminate the requirement for additional licenses.
• Achieved cost savings of approximately €50,000.
Legal Work: Regulated Asset Provider
Aleksa Mil
Background
Initially established as a DEX, the project pivoted to become a regulated digital asset provider, adapting to the changing regulatory and market landscape.
Challenge
• Acquiring licenses for a digital asset provider is time-consuming and costly.
• The procedure involves extensive paperwork and the collection of information creating administrative bottleneck.
• Communication gaps among different stakeholders across various jurisdictions.
Scope of Work
• Project management of the licensing process.
• Coordinating legal activities and maintaining communication with lawyers, regulators, and financial institutions.
• Facilitating collaboration among relevant stakeholders and providing regular progress updates.
Outcome
• Successfully obtained regulatory licenses from financial authorities of both Gibraltar and Lithuania.
• Enhanced communication among internal and external stakeholders.
